Spritesheet Companion Is All Grown Up
This release brings major new features that make sprite management faster and more intuitive than ever. Thank you again to Swift Illusion for rapidly testing and suggesting QoL features!
What’s New
New Grid Resizer Tab
The biggest addition is the all-new Grid Resizer - a dedicated tab for resizing sprite frames. Perfect for converting assets between different formats or adapting sprites to new grid sizes. Features include:
- Source & Target Grid Settings - Define your current frame size and desired output size.
- Ratio Scaling - Quick presets (75%, 150%, 200%, etc.) for proportional scaling.
- Sprite Position Anchoring - Choose where sprites sit within new frames (Bottom-Center is perfect for character sprites).
- Scale Modes - No scaling, Scale to Fit, or Scale to Fill.
- Pixel Offset - Fine-tune placement with X/Y offsets.
- Seamless Transfer - Move between Rearranger and Resizer tabs with one click.
Enhanced Controls
You can now use your keyboard or mouse to modify your spritesheets! A few examples include:
- Ctrl+Click to toggle individual frames.
- Shift+Click to select ranges.
- Shift+Drag to draw selection boxes.
- Arrow keys for navigation, Shift+Arrow to extend selection.
- Ctrl+Arrow to preview moves before committing.
- Delete key to clear selected frames.
New Drag Behavior Options
Choose your preferred mouse drag behavior:
- Swap Mode - Drag to swap positions (Ctrl+Drag to move).
- Move Mode - Drag to move/insert (Ctrl+Drag to swap).
Fullscreen Popout Mode
Click the Popout button to open fullscreen editing. It’s essential for working with large spritesheets. Full controls available in fullscreen including zoom, mode switching, and expand options.
Preset Size Dropdown
Quickly select common sprite dimensions (16x16, 32x32, 48x48, etc.) from a dropdown instead of typing manually.
UI/UX Improvements
- Streamlined toolbar layout
- Better keyboard navigation throughout
- Improved visual feedback for selections and previews
